Lorie Johnson teaches tenth-grade English and the yearbook class. She has been at Santa Fe High since 2023, but has been teaching for 24 years.
Ms. Johnson is from Belen. She attended UNM in Albuquerque, where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Now she is finishing up her doctorate in educational leadership.
Ms. Johnson said she likes to teach high school, and she loves when her students “actually understand what [she is] teaching.”
In her free time, Ms. Johnson enjoys doing art work, especially painting. She also likes to read books and cook, but most of all she enjoys spending time with her husband and cat.
Ms. Johnson and her husband have five children, four boys and one girl. A fun little fact is that four of her kids were all born on the same day, though in different years. She has eight grandkids and another on the way.
