Sheldon Begody works at Santa Fe High for Project AWARE, a grant funded program that supports Native American students.
Sheldon is the Navigator of Project AWARE, meaning she provides students with resources as needed. She started working at Santa Fe High School in 2023. “I enjoy case management work because it allows me to help people find the resources necessary for their daily lives,” she said. “It is a rewarding experience knowing you are helping people.”
Sheldon was born in Phoenix, Ariz., but spent most of her childhood in a small town north of Phoenix. She went to Choate Rosemary Hall for high school, graduated in 2008, and then went to Dickinson College in Pennsylvania, from which she graduated in 2012. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology.
“I found the study of how people think very interesting, and I wanted to be a therapist. That’s one of the things you need to major in to be a psychologist,” she explained.
In her free time, Sheldon enjoys hiking in the cooler months, swimming, and going to the park with her twin daughters. She is also an aunt to two dogs, a cat, and a bearded dragon.
Sheldon said she enjoys her coworkers and the students at SFHS. She plans to continue her journey working with Project AWARE in the years to come.
