Demon Girls varsity soccer is having a strong season. As of Oct. 10, the team’s overall record was 7-7-1, and its district record was 2-3.

The head coach is Alvin Valdez, and the assistant is Ray Salazar. There are also three varsity captains, Haley Ammerman, Valencya Valdez, and Cassie Mazulis.

Haley expressed that the team’s most difficult opponent has been Albuquerque High, which beat Santa Fe 9-0. “Not only did we go in with an extremely weak team due to sickness and injuries involving many of our players, but the level Albuquerque High plays is beyond what most of us have ever been exposed to,” she said.

“They are a strong team in numbers as well as skill, and it was just a matter of them having a more technically advanced and fit team than us,” Captain Ammerman explained.

Despite the challenges, the captains still enjoy being on the team. “This team is like my second family,” says Haley. “I can’t think of a single negative aspect of the entire experience. I’m so incredibly proud that I am the co-captain of such an amazing group of girls.”
