Dear SFHS Families,

We welcome students back to Santa Fe High School on Tuesday for the first day of school! When you arrive on campus, you’ll see construction crews, as we continue remodeling Santa Fe High! This construction brings with it some temporary changes to student drop-off and pick-up, as well as campus access and parking. Campus Access
From the start of school through September, students using the south student parking lot will have a paved lane along the west side of the construction area that connects to the sidewalk at the arch.  This lane will be fenced on both sides. Because of the lane’s proximity to the student drop off lanes, concrete barriers will be placed to protect pedestrians from traffic.

Access to the Performing Arts Center and the gymnasiums will be routed along the south side of the library and down the stairs to Demon Alley.  The center stairway and east stairway will both be open. There will be pavement along the entire route.

Handicap access to the Performing Arts Building and the gyms,  through September, will utilize the temporary walkway along the west side of the construction zone, and then east along the student parking lot, and then into the buildings via the handicap ramps on the south  side of the gyms.

In October, there will be a new, permanent ramp/stairs along the west side of the Performing Arts Building which will allow handicap access to the entire campus including Demon Alley, the  Performing Arts Building building, and the student parking lot.

Also, from August through December, we’re building a new parking lot inside the Vo-tech Road loop south of the Activities Center.  Parking for staff at the Activities Center will be provided at the nearest location in the student parking lot. Spaces will be temporarily designated for staff parking.  Once the new lot is completed there will 80-90 additional parking spaces for Activities Center staff and sports events. A new walkway will connect the parking lot to Vo-tech road and the new tennis courts. All other buildings should have normal access throughout the year.

Student Drop-off
The new configuration of the Yucca Road entrance will include a (right) lane entrance into the student parking lot, and a (left) lane entrance to drop-off, visitor and staff parking, much as it was previously.  The lanes will have written designations on the pavement as well as signage to direct traffic. A new guard shack will be located at the divider where the lanes split. Each lane will have a traffic arm to control access.  The guards will have controllers for the traffic arms. There will also be a keypad on the left lane to allow staff access to the staff parking lot.

The student drop-off area along the arch and Academic Building’s west side will remain the same, except that the lane closest to the campus will be used for handicap bus drop-off.  Handicap bus pickup will be moved to the north side of the science building/business center.

A security person will be stationed at the intersection of Vo-tech road and the south road to Facilities and Maintenance/Zia Road.  The security person will direct traffic, allowing students into the student parking lot and buses to the Vo-tech road loop. Parents with students to drop off will be directed to the Yucca Road entrance.

Bus Transportation
Buses will drop off and pick up students at the Vo-tech road loop as usual. From October through the end of the 19-20 school year, students using the student parking lot will use walkways along Vo-tech to the new ramp/stairs by the Performing Arts Building building.

Signage
Signage is being placed around the campus to help direct staff, students, parents, and visitors.  Signs along the drop off route west of the academic building will direct people to the temporary reception office located in the lower level of the academic building.  Signs in the student parking lot will direct students to the appropriate walkways west or east depending on their destination. Signs will also be placed along the fence at the plaza to direct students to their destination.

Construction Activity
Construction will be happening every day.  There will be an impact from noise at times, but we will work with the contractor to mitigate noise effects.  Fencing with fabric screening will be in place around the construction site. The contractor conducts regular safety reviews of their site and perimeter each week.  If there are issues that need to be addressed, please bring them to an administration’s attention as soon as possible.

New Tennis Courts
The new courts will be complete and ready for use. There will still be construction work happening outside the perimeter fence and at the new parking spaces at the entrance to the courts.  The parking lot area above the courts will be cleared and available for student parking.

Acceso al campus
Desde el comienzo de la escuela hasta septiembre, los estudiantes que usan el estacionamiento para estudiantes del sur tendrán un cmino pavimentado a lo largo del lado oeste del área de construcción que se conecta a la banqueta en el arco. Este camino estará cercado en ambos lados. Debido a la proximidad del camino a los carriles para dejar a los estudiantes, se colocarán barreras de concreto para proteger a los peatones del tráfico.

El acceso al Centro de Artes Escénicas y los gimnasios se enrutará a lo largo del lado sur de la biblioteca y bajará las escaleras hasta “Demon Alley”. Las escaleras centrales y las escaleras del lado  este estarán abiertas. Habrá pavimento a lo largo de toda la ruta.

El acceso para discapacitados al Edificio de Artes Escénicas y los gimnasios, hasta septiembre, utilizará el pasillo temporal a lo largo del lado oeste de la zona de construcción, y luego al este a lo largo del estacionamiento de estudiantes, y luego a los edificios a través de las rampas para discapacitados en el lado sur de los gimnasios.

En octubre, habrá una nueva rampa / escalera permanente a lo largo del lado oeste del Edificio de Artes Escénicas que permitirá el acceso para discapacitados a todo el campus, incluido “Demon Alley”, el edificio del Edificio de Artes Escénicas y el estacionamiento para estudiantes.

Además, de agosto a diciembre, estamos construyendo un nuevo estacionamiento dentro de Vo-tech Road al sur del Centro de Actividades. Se proporcionará estacionamiento para el personal en el Centro de Actividades en el lugar más cercano en el estacionamiento de estudiantes. Espacios serán designados temporalmente para el estacionamiento del personal. Una vez que se complete el nuevo lote, habrá 80-90 espacios de estacionamiento adicionales para el personal del Centro de Actividades y eventos deportivos. Un nuevo pasillo conectará el estacionamiento con la calle Vo-tech y las nuevas canchas de tenis. Todos los demás edificios deben tener acceso normal durante todo el año.

Entrega de estudiantes
La nueva configuración de la entrada de Yucca Road incluirá una entrada de carril (derecha) entrando al estacionamiento de estudiantes y una entrada de carril (izquierda) para dejar estudiantes,  estacionamiento para visitantes y personal, tal como era anteriormente. Los carriles tendrán designaciones escritas en el pavimento, así como señalización para dirigir el tráfico. Una nueva cabaña de guardia se ubicará en el divisor donde se dividen los carriles. Cada carril tendrá un brazo de tráfico para controlar el acceso. Los guardias tendrán controladores para las armas de tráfico. También habrá un teclado en el carril izquierdo para permitir el acceso del personal al estacionamiento del personal.

El área para dejar a los estudiantes a lo largo del arco y el lado oeste del Edificio Académico seguirá siendo la misma, excepto que el carril más cercano al campus se usará para el autobús para discapacitados. La recogida del autobús para discapacitados se trasladará al lado norte del edificio de ciencias / centro de negocios.

Una persona de seguridad estará estacionada en la intersección de la calle Vo-tech y la calle sur hacia Instalaciones y Mantenimiento / Zia Road. La persona de seguridad dirigirá el tráfico, permitiendo que los estudiantes ingresen al estacionamiento de estudiantes y autobuses a la calle de Vo-tech. Los padres con estudiantes para dejar serán dirigidos a la entrada de Yucca Road.

Transporte en autobus
Los autobuses dejarán y recogerán a los estudiantes en el la calle de Vo-tech, como de costumbre. Desde octubre hasta el final del año escolar 19-20, los estudiantes que usan el estacionamiento para estudiantes usarán pasillos a lo largo de Vo-tech hacia la nueva rampa / escalera junto al edificio del Edificio de Artes Escénicas.

Señalización
Se está colocando señalización alrededor del campus para ayudar a dirigir al personal, estudiantes, padres y visitantes. Las señales a lo largo de la ruta de entrega al oeste del edificio académico dirigirán a las personas a la oficina de recepción temporal ubicada en el nivel inferior del edificio académico. Las señales en el estacionamiento de los estudiantes dirigirán a los estudiantes a los pasillos apropiados al oeste o al este dependiendo de su destino. También se colocarán letreros a lo largo de la cerca en la plaza para dirigir a los estudiantes a su destino.

Actividad de construcción
La construcción se llevará a cabo todos los días. A veces habrá un impacto del ruido, pero trabajaremos con el contratista para mitigar los efectos del ruido. Se colocarán cercas con malla de tela alrededor del sitio de construcción. El contratista realiza revisiones periódicas de seguridad de su sitio y perímetro cada semana. Si hay problemas que deben abordarse, comuníquelos a la administración lo antes posible.

Nuevas canchas de tenis
Los nuevos canchas estarán completos y listas para su uso. Todavía habrá trabajos de construcción fuera de la cerca  y en los nuevos espacios de estacionamiento en la entrada de las canchas. El área de estacionamiento sobre las canchas se despejará y estará disponible para estacionamiento de estudiantes.
