Daniel Chavez and Josiah Tipton Win First and Second at Skills USA State Competition

At the 2016 Skills USA Auto Collision and Refinishing Technology state competition, Santa Fe High senior, Daniel Chavez, won the gold medal for the second time.

He won the gold medal for the first time when he was in 10th grade. Daniel has won $20,000 in scholarship money as well as $2,000 in tool prizes.

Josiah Tipton, a Santa Fe High Senior, also medaled, taking home the silver medal for the first time. Josiah has won $5,000 in scholarship money and $500 in tool prizes.

Daniel will compete for the second time at Nationals in July in Louisville, KY. He has a chance to win $10,000 in tool prizes as well as a full ride scholarship to multiple tech schools.
