My goal with this story was to ask people about amusement parks — if they had been to one, what their favorite ride was from that amusement park, and what their favorite memory was from the day they went.
What is an amusement park? Amusement parks are places where there are attractions, games, and rides. You might also hear the term “theme park.” Theme parks are basically amusement parks, but the landscaping, buildings, and attractions are based on one or more specific themes.
Anders Burkman said, “I have been to Lagoon Amusement park in Farmington, Utah. My favorite ride was the Cannibal roller coaster.” (This ride can be seen in this video.) “My favorite memory is watching my cousin and sister play whack-a-mole for 40 minutes, and at the end they won a Pokemon Piplup plush.”
Kate Gomez, our digital learning coach, said, “The amusement park I went to was Santa’s Village, in Jefferson, New Hampshire. My favorite ride was the log ride because it had a big splash at the end.” (This can be seen in this video.) “My favorite memory about Santa’s Village was when I arrived at the park because I thought that I was going to my parents’ work. My parents said that we had to go to work, but it ended up being that we were there to stay.”
Mariana Gonzales said, “The theme park I went to was Universal Studios Hollywood, in Burbank, California. My favorite ride was the Transformers 3D ride because the 3D effects were really cool.” (This can be seen in this video.) “One memory from the trip that was cool is when we were waiting in line looking for all of the Easter eggs [references from the movie]. But my favorite memory was riding the Mario Kart ride with my uncle. He lives in Burbank, so we don’t get to see him that much.”
My favorite memory is from Disney World Resort, located in Orlando, Florida. My favorite ride was the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom. I remember loving it so much that I said, “Again!” to my parents and we rode it three times in a row. But my favorite memory is getting to be with my parents during those trips.
