Nicholas Friedman is a history teacher who joined the Santa Fe High staff in 2023.
Originally from Los Angeles, Calif., Mr. Friedman earned his undergraduate degree at Cal Poly. He earned his graduate degree in education from Claremont Graduate University.
During college, Mr. Friedman worked a lot of jobs, including Albertson’s and In-n-Out. He also coached football. After college, he worked mainly as a football coach at Mission Prep High School and at Santa Monica College before becoming a teacher. He said he moved to Santa Fe because California was too expensive, and he wanted a new adventure.
Mr. Friedman’s decision to become a teacher grew out of his coaching career, as he always enjoyed working with student-athletes. He chose history because he wanted “to tell the stories of history.”
Mr. Friedman enjoys teaching. “It is never a boring job,” he said. “There’s always something new to teach, and new ways to teach.” He added, “And over 150 different students with different ways of doing things and learning.”
In his free time, Mr. Friedman likes to play with his pup, read, and write. One of his favorite hobbies is cooking all kinds of foods. He also likes watching TV.
