Demon Swimmers Place at State

Santa Fe High’s swim team put up a valiant effort in this year’s state competition, with the boys finishing fifth overall and many swimmers placing in their individual events on Feb. 18.
With outstanding performances from Henry Lyons, Elias Gibson, and Nick Stadick, the Demons accumulated 151.5 points to threaten the state’s top teams at the two-day State Swimming and Diving Championships at the Albuquerque Academy Natatorium.
A Demon trio, along with Derique Garcia, helped the 200-yard individual medley relay team take fifth. Nick, Henry, and Elias also made the winners’ podium in their individual events.
Nick tied for fourth place in the 200-yard freestyle and finished fifth in the 100 freestyle. Henry was fourth and Elias two spots behind in the 200 medley.
Henry came in fourth in the marathon 500 free.
Ella Tyroler and Nina Lyons also competed at the state meet.
