Demon Band competed against the other marching bands from across the state at the New Mexico Pageant of Bands on Oct. 22, the first time a band from Santa Fe has competed in the larger divisions (AAAA) since 1984.
The band placed second, and Maya Harris won Best Soloist.  Santa Fe High also placed first in Musicianship and in General Effect.  The band earned strong scores in every competition, including Colorguard and Percussion.
Band director Mr. Bellon said, “All but three of these students had never marched before this year.  I’m very, very proud of them, their growth and all of the hard work that they have been putting in.”
There are two more opportunities to see the band perform their “Door Thirteen” field show: at the final home football game on Fri., Oct. 28, and also on Thurs., Nov. 3, at 8 p.m. in Ivan Head Stadium.
The band leaves on Nov. 4 for Bands of America Regional U.S. Champs in Utah.
