Devil’s Advocate Club is new to SFHS this year. Jordan Ortega, a junior, started the club at the beginning of the year and has been running meetings ever since.

He explains that in this club, “We debate, talk, and joke about stuff going on in the world, whether that be politics, conflicts, personal issues, etc.” He goes on to say, “The sole purpose of the club is to discuss serious (not always though) topics in a casual setting.”

Devil’s Advocate Club is a great way for students to discuss important issues in the world while still feeling comfortable in a setting where they can meaningfully express their opinions. The club is a great way for students to become more aware of issues going on in the world, and it fosters purposeful communication.

Jordan says his favorite thing about his club is, “We have fun. We enjoy each other’s company. That’s the key thing, that it’s just a bunch of kids gathering around to have a solid conversation.”

Meetings are held Wednesdays at lunch in Ms. Spurgeon’s room, A-132. New members are welcome.
