Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas has been a holiday classic ever since the book came out in 1957, and it still brings joy and happiness to families throughout the holiday season.

Most recently, the movie was remade by Illumination Entertainment, who brought us Despicable Me and The Secret Life of Pets.

The plot of the film has not changed much from the original, and still has the same old Mr. Grinch planning to ruin Christmas for Whoville. Mr. Grinch lives with his dog, Max, on a secluded mountain outside of Whoville. Because he cannot tolerate the joy of the Whos during the Christmas season, Mr. Grinch creates a master plan to steal Christmas from them to take away their happiness and bring them misery on Christmas day.

Much like the other Grinch movies, this remake is predictable if you know the storyline. While it is a classic movie, most remakes are hard to do, and chances are they won’t be as successful, or entertaining, as before. Most of the humor in this movie is directed toward young children; it’s hard for an adolescent to sit through it.

Illumination changed the storyline a little bit by adding new characters and all, but if you really want to have fun watching this classic, you’d be better off watching the original 1966 version How The Grinch Stole Christmas.
