Emily Walukas
November 20, 2017
Originally from the South, Mx. Walukas (they/them) transplanted themselves to New Mexico in 2016 and started teaching by accident. They teach engineering at Santa Fe High (and sometimes math!).
Mx. Walukas has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction, and endorsements in bilingual, TESOL, math, science, and career technical education. They also support the school’s GSA, SAGA Club (Sexuality and Gender Acceptance) as one of the few queer and non-binary faculty.
Mx. Walukas feels more at home in northern New Mexico than almost anywhere they have lived and think that autumn here is better than anywhere else. They love aikido, taiko, puzzle video games, Avatar the Last Airbender, board games, pranks, antics, general mirth, organizing and eating big meals with community, eating breakfast burritos, occasionally turning into a burrito, jumprope, and being outside on top of a mountain eating snacks.

Hi Demon Tattler,
This teacher is a great person and role model for the youth! So happy to see that she’s making a positive impact on these kids lives through means of gadgets and learning… but not homework!
