With summer right around the corner, you might be struggling to come up with ideas for new things to do. So instead of lying on your bed and dying of boredom, take a look at this list and try something new!

Take a drive along Route 66 with some friends
With numerous attractions such as Blue Hole, Red Rocks and La Bajada Hill, the old Route 66 is guaranteed to never disappoint. Route 66 (often rerouted as I-25 and I-40) goes through California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Illinois. So it’s your choice — you can stay here in town or you can keep on driving….

Visit the Santa Fe Climbing Center
The Santa Fe Climbing Center, at at 3008 Cielo Court, is New Mexico’s only indoor rock climbing gym. While you can get the climbing experience inside, you can also get personal guides to take you outside.

Visit the world’s largest pistachio
Who wouldn’t want to see the world’s largest pistachio? Located between Tularosa and Alamogordo, this was originally a son’s tribute to his father, but is now an oddity that attracts people from all over.

Go swimming in Abiquiu Lake
Abiquiu Lake is a reservoir located in Rio Arriba County, an hour north of Santa Fe. It’s the perfect place to hang out with friends, go fishing, take a swim, or get a tan.

Take a ride on the Sandia Peak Tramway
The Sandia Peak Tramway, just north of Albuquerque in the Cibola National Forest, is a 2.7-mile ride that will take you above deep canyons. You can stop at the observation deck at the top of a 10,378 peak, where you can enjoy an amazing view of the sunset and the Rio Grande Valley.

Catch a movie at Railyard Park
On every second Friday of the month during summer, the Railyard Park in Santa Fe puts on free movies. Weather permitting, you bring your blanket, your snacks and your friends to have a good time.

Visit Loretto Chapel
Loretto Chapel, on Old Santa Fe Trail just off Santa Fe’s Plaza, has the famous “magical floating staircase” and a lot of beautiful things to see.

Jump into some fun at Gravity Park

Visit Meow Wolf
Meow Wolf, at 1352 Rufina Circle in Santa Fe, is a permanent, interactive art exhibit that’s always changing. Whether or not you figure out the story that lies within the house depends on how closely you pay attention to detail!

See a concert at Isleta Amphitheater
This outdoor concert venue, at 5601 University Blvd SE in Albuquerque, is a great place to see a show.
