Stan Mascarenas has been the dean of students at Santa Fe High since 2008.

A Santa Fe native, Mr. Mascarenas worked for the Santa Fe Police Department for 23 years, where he investigated crimes against children. Toward the end of his career there, he started working with teens as a supervisor, which he enjoyed. After retiring as deputy chief, he joined the staff at Santa Fe High.

“What I enjoy at Santa Fe High is the staff,” he said. “I have an admiration for people in education, and I enjoy talking to and giving advice to students.” He said he especially enjoys watching teens mature, accomplish their goals, and graduate.

Mr. Mascarenas and his wife have three children and two grandchildren. “For fun,” he said, “I like to work with my horses and spend time with my family on the ranch.”
