ENLACE is a new Santa Fe High School club founded on August 30th, 2024. The club is an abbreviation for “Engaging Latino Communities for Education”; however, the club is welcome to anyone, not only Latinos. This club was created from the program NE ENLACE at the community college.
NE ENLACE at Santa Fe Community College is a program for high school juniors and seniors that works across districts through Northeast New Mexico to form a leadership team of high school students. The leadership team’s primary goal is to create non-profit projects centered around a goal they choose their council to focus on.
At Santa Fe High School, ENLACE’s goal is to better the community specifically by volunteering and helping unite people. Members in SFHS ENLACE often help volunteer, plan events, and fundraise towards this goal. For example, some of the volunteer events the club does include food and coat drives. ENLACE is a great club for building leadership, volunteering, fundraising, and community skills. Currently, the club is working towards hosting a board game night for SEL Day to help unite the community.
Meetings for this club are held every Friday during lunch; the meetings are in the community room in the library. There is an interval period before each meeting to ensure members have time to bring or get lunch. The club’s sponsors are Tommy Rodriguez and Kate Gomez.
