Kristina Chavez, a safety aide who has been at Santa Fe High since July, is now the head of campus security. Victor Quintana, who previously held the position, has moved to another job in the district.
Ms. Chavez has worked with the district for over 14 years at several schools. Before coming to SFPS, Ms. Chavez had lots of experience as a security guard, at Buffalo Thunder Casino and with Akal Security.
Ms. Chavez said she likes her job and that this job is her passion. She feels that students should know that security is there for them. Ms. Chavez likes to work with kids, and likes to see them go from being freshmen to graduating. She is hoping to show everyone to be respectful to the students while doing their job.
Ms. Chavez also wants there to be more safety aides because of how big the Santa Fe High campus is. She wants all the aides to start wearing earpieces so the students don’t hear what happens over the radios.
