Lori Andrews, who is originally from the Los Angeles area, graduated with an art major/literature minor degree from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, Calif. She completed a fifth-year secondary art education degree at UCSB and went on to teach high school art in Los Angeles for four years.
Ms. Andrews moved to Santa Fe in 1990 to attend St. John’s Graduate Institute, where she earned a master’s degree in liberal studies. She joined the staff at Santa Fe High in 1998.
“I love teaching art,” she said. “Students enjoy a creative avenue for expression, and art classes provide that. Art also brings together a discussion of different cultures, media, expressions and ideas.”
In addition to painting and drawing in her free time (“What free time?” she exclaims), Ms. Andrews likes to bike, run, read and visit museums. She explained that she does not Facebook, stays clear of social media, does not own a TV, and can proudly say she has never watched a reality show.
Ms. Andrews has three children — one is a student at Santa Fe High and one graduated from SFHS in 2014.
