Victoria Meyer joined Santa Fe High in 2023 as a U.S. history teacher.
Originally from Tucson, Ariz., Ms. Meyer attended New Mexico State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education and her master’s in business administration.
Growing up, her family consisted of many teachers, inspiring Ms. Meyer to pursue teaching as a career. She eventually landed on history as her subject.
“History is something that I’ve always been interested in,” she said, explaining that she had a history teacher in high school who brought interest to the subject, and that she was also inspired by a good college professor. “They just made history relatable to what was going on in our lives, connected to us, and made it not so boring,” she said.
“Getting to work with different students” is Ms. Meyer’s favorite part about teaching. “I like to see students from different backgrounds and help them be successful,” she explained.
Ms. Meyer said she decided to move to Santa Fe to be closer to her husband’s family. However, she tries to travel to Tucson as much as possible to visit her family.
Ms. Meyer’s favorite thing to do when she’s not in the classroom is reading books of all genres (especially historical fiction), and she often finds herself scrolling through Instagram looking for new book recommendations. She is an avid hiker, and she especially loves hiking with her dog, Macy, whom she loves very much.
As of February 2024, Ms Meyer is expecting her first child.
