The Santa Fe High boys track and field team placed second and the girls’ team placed sixth in a field of 20 at the Capital City Invitational Meet on April 15.

Coach Peter Graham reports that Bryce Melton ran 10.75 in the 100-meter. “He now has the fastest 100-meter time in the state,” he said.

In addition, the boys 4 x 100 ran a state qualifying time.

(The meet, though hosted by Santa Fe High, took place at Capital High because of construction on the SFHS campus.)

Four SFHS runners also competed at the Marilyn Sepulveda Meet of Champions on April 10 at UNM. “The meet is an Elite All Star meet and invites the top eight individuals in the state, in each sprint event and top 10 in the distance races, regardless of classification, to compete against each other,” Coach Graham explained.

Max Anderson, Cy Anderson, Valin Wittenburg and Bryce Melton competed:
Bryce Melton placed first in the 100-meter dash and second in the 200 meter dash and qualified for the AAAAA State Meet in May.
Cy Anderson finished 3rd in the 400-meter dash and qualified for the 5A state meet in May.
Valin Wittenburg finished 7th in the 400-meter dash.
Max Anderson finished 7th in the 800-meter run.
Coach Graham said, “They all represented Santa Fe High very well.”
