Santa Fe High’s Gold Mock Trial Team and Blue Team Courtroom Sketch Artist qualified for the state Mock Trial competition at the New Mexico Gene Franchini High School Mock Trial Albuquerque Qualifier on Feb. 22. However, the state competition has been canceled due to COVID-19.

The Gold Team, whose members include Evan Kluck, Bishop Elisoff, Candace Sena, Jordan Ortega, Anna Weschler, Colton Russell, and Fintan Long, were one of the top eight teams to advance. Olivia Abeyta won first place as Courtroom Sketch Artist.

Coach Ms. Spurgeon explained that the Mock Trial class consists of two teams, Gold and Blue. Both of these teams have to put in a serious amount of time and effort into writing their statements, revising them, and memorizing facts about the case. 

The Blue Team consists of Adam Duran, Charlotte Bordegaray, Carly Johnson, Leandra Motelet, Carson Day, Mattias Sayer, Jonah Gott, and Dominique Herrerra.

The two attorney coaches are Jeff Weschler and Jim Wechsler.
