Air Rifle Team Qualifies for All Navy Marksmanship Nationals

SFHS NJROTC took third place in Chandler, Ariz., during the Navy National Championship for Marksmanship on Feb. 8. This win qualifies them for Ohio´s All Services National Championship.In Arizona, four marksmanship teams qualified for Ohio in March on the 20th. SFHS has gone to this competition before and was runner up last year and two years before that they won the title.

¨I think we can finish top three (this year),¨ Mr. Stapleton, one of NJROTC´s instructors, shared. 

After Ohio, NJROTC has one more competition which is the State Championship on March 28th. NJROTC is hoping to win their 5th State Championship title during this competition.

In addition to the win in Arizona, NJROTC hosted its fifth annual Capital City Military Skills Meet at the beginning of February and won its fifth consecutive win. Approximately 20 teams participated and SFHS came out on top once more.

The Sporter Team — Gabriel Gonzales, Aryanna Holmes, Angelica Segovia and Joab Gonzalez — came in first in the nation (for all Navy Schools). Gabe Gonzales placed third overall out of all the shooters.
In addition, Mya Gonzales was selected as an individual qualifier for Precision.
