Peggy Chee-Romero teaches financial literacy. She joined the staff at Santa Fe High in 2019

Ms. Chee-Romero has been living in Santa Fe for 30 years; before that she lived in Albuquerque and Gallup. She went to Gallup High School and played basketball on the varsity team as the point guard. She then went to UNM and earned a degree in mathematics. Then she earned her bachelor’s degree in business at the community college.

Although she considered going into engineering, as she was tutoring kids and working with people, she decided that being a teacher would be a better fit for her.

Ms. Chee-Romero found a love for teaching after she started tutoring at the Santa Fe Indian School. She worked part time there for a couple years. (She also chose teaching because she wanted to spend more time with her family.)

Her hobbies include biking, hiking, swimming, and of course playing basketball. Ms. Chee-Romero also played basketball in a city league a few years back.
