Mr. Morris teaches the social development class and is an assistant girls varsity basketball coach. He joined the staff of Santa Fe High in 2018.

Originally from Los Angeles, Calif., Mr. Morris moved to New Mexico in 1988. A football scholarship first brought him to UCLA, but he quickly transferred to UNM. He graduated from UNM in 1991 with a degree in special education; he intended to pursue a career in helping students.

However, after college he worked in the private sector for twenty years as a distributor. Mr. Morris also worked as an account manager who would travel about three times a week. This steered him toward working as a representative for Albertson’s, Smiths, and Sprouts.

Mr. Morris has been really involved with sports since he was a child, so he felt the need to share this passion with kids. He coached his daughter’s Little League basketball team. He got the opportunity to be a girls varsity assistant basketball coach at Sandia High School in 2017.

He worked at a behavioral center in Albuquerque. “Working with them and seeing them turn their lives around was a treat for me and something I wanted to do,” he said. He eventually chose to work with students who have temperament issues. Mr. Morris has a lot of patience and empathy to work with these students, a job many teachers would shy away from.

A father of five children, in his free time Mr. Morris said, “I like to watch my kids play sports.” He also likes to watch the Oakland Raiders and the Los Angeles Dodgers as he is a big fan.
