Juliet Salazar

Will Germann, Author

Juliet Marie Salazar started teaching at Santa Fe High in 2015. This year, she is teaching 9th grade Honors and 10th grade English Language Arts as well as AVID 11. This is the first opportunity she has had to teach AVID, and she is happy to start with such an amazing Junior class!

Raised in El Paso, Texas, she has lived in the Southwest most of her life. Ms. Salazar earned a B.A. in theater arts at UT El Paso and a B.S. in psychology from UNM; then went on to receive an M.F.A. in media and performing arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Theater is still an important part of Ms. Salazar’s life and she takes part in productions when she has the chance. She is actively involved with local theater company Teatro Paraguas, serving as a board member and, occasionally, a performer.

As an English Language Arts teacher, Ms. Salazar finds her theatre experience very useful in regard to guiding and encouraging participation and public speaking—practices that build leadership skills and empower the participants.

Ms. Salazar comes home every night to her husband, two dogs, and their recently adopted cat. When all her work is done, she enjoys hanging out with her family and playing Skyrim.
