Isaac Beltran, a senior weighing in at 138 lbs., won the state wrestling championship on Feb. 23.
Elijah Martinez (152 lbs.), a sophomore who has been wrestling his whole life, took third place.
Miguel Padilla, a freshman who also wrestled in elementary and middle school, was also a runner-up at State. Coach Mark Hussey said Miguel was a true leader this season.
Isaac, who was state runner-up his sophomore year, has a very high chance of being recruited for colleges because of his win. However, Isaac says he does not want to go to college for wrestling, but he would like to go for other things, such as a degree and the lifestyle of a college student.
