Dr. Kelly Jenkins teaches physical and environmental science. She joined the Santa Fe High staff in 2019.

Dr. Jenkins used to live in New Jersey but moved to New Mexico because of her husband, who works at Los Alamos National Labs. She lives with her husband and their cat, Kami. Dr. Jenkins went to Hamilton College and graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where she earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry.

“I think it’s interesting to learn about biochemistry because we’re made of molecules to the smallest extent,” she said.

Dr. Jenkins likes to cook, do crafts, paint, sew, and knit. She also wakes up at 4 a.m. to teach kids in China online.

She said she decided to become a teacher because she loves children and enjoys working with students for fun.
